I DO

Being a wedding make-up artist and beauty blogger, I thought this week’s blog title was perfect. I think I’m one of those people who once I have a focus in my mind then there really is no stopping me. I will do whatever it takes to create that vision and make it a reality. However, it doesn't happen by itself and the one thing I've learned is to plan how I am going to reach my goals.

About Time

I give myself a time frame of when I want to achieve my goal and then I work backward's and break it down into segments. At this stage, dissecting your goals is a time-consuming task but don't rush it and be realistic about what you can and can't do. If you need to learn a new skill then put your energy into that. One thing that I have learned the hard way is that more often than not tasks take much longer than I would allocate and it would throw off my whole schedule. Today, I am much more realistic about the timings. I think anything creative is more prone to taking longer but it is always worth that extra attention.

Self Education

I am guilty of trying to do everything myself and feeling like it is always my responsibility to do it all. It all needs the RubyLoves effect! But, I am learning to delegate my tasks to make life easier. I have always been a person that typically doesnt ask for help. I will struggle along, research things and try and find as much information as i can. Self-education has become such a big part of my life and I actually think I will be a life-long learner. I crave knowledge, my mind is constantly hungry to learn the mechanics of a subject.

Plan

When you run a business, unless you have a team around you to help you, then you will be the person to say ‘I Do’ to every task. Like anything it can be overwhelming the more things you say ‘I Do’ to. I am a solution-based thinker so I usually come up with ways to make my life easier. One thing I cannot live without is my planner. I would never remember a thing without it. Our lives are so busy with being a mum, running a home and being all the facets of a person that we are to everyone around us.

Get Organised

How I make it easy for myself is to plan my whole month, then my week ahead, then I do a daily planner too. It sounds like a huge effort but by putting this time in now it completely free’s my mind to actually create the best I can, organically, without getting distracted and thinking of all the 100’s of things I need to do. It gives me that clear mind to focus all my energy on one task at a time. The monthly tasks eventually filter into my week ahead plan and that eventually flows into my daily plan. The system constantly evolves as I add fresh tasks to complete each month but I have a clear way of monitoring what I am doing. I love this method as it also shows me the tasks that i keep putting off. You know the ones that you dont seem to find the time to do, so you put them back a week. These are usually tasks that I struggle with, dont know how to do or simply dont like to do. This system really helps to sift out what you are and are not achieving.

Don’t Worry

Dont beat yourself up about this! We are all human and allowed to have things we dont want to do. A way of overcoming this is to find out why you havent done each task. If its simply because you dont like it then I’m afraid my advice is to bite the bullet and do that task first, get it out the way and then move on to the rest. You will be much more productive and can forget about that task too. If its because you dont know how to do it then get online and learn that skill, empower yourself and get ahead!

I hope you have enjoyed this weeks blog and it helps you to create your own fabulousness. Dont forget to subscribe and please let me know if you would like me to share a specific topic in my blog.

Lots of Love
